About

Michelle is proud to live in one of Oregon’s most beautiful regions. House District 3 covers Grants Pass, Cave Junction, Merlin, Williams, Wilderville, and the “heart” of rural Josephine county.
Michelle understands what it’s like to raise a family and be a part of the community in Southern Oregon. She and her husband moved to the Illinois Valley in 1996 and now have two wonderful sons.
In addition to being a mother, taxpayer and homeowner, Michelle has also run her own small photography and public relations business and has been an active community volunteer. In order to be an advocate in Salem for the people of this area, the new state representative has to understand our strengths and struggles. Michelle is that kind of advocate.
For the past six years, Michelle has been involved in the legislative process, the first year on staff for State Rep. Wally Hicks (R-Grants Pass) and the last five as Chief of Staff for former House Republican Leader, State Rep. Carl Wilson (R-Grants Pass). Prior to her service at the State Capitol, Michelle was a journalist and publisher for a decade in rural Josephine County.
Michelle’s oldest son Paul, 21, is attending Rogue Community College seeking an associate's degree and welding certificate. Ian, 18, is a Class of 2020 graduate of Illinois Valley High School and will attend Southern Oregon University in the fall. Husband Keith is an independent commercial truck driver.
Leadership skills and community service have been important to Michelle. She is a past president and charter member of the Rotary Club of Illinois Valley, in addition to serving on several other boards and organizations. Michelle is an American Leadership Forum of Oregon Senior Fellow, a graduate of Ford Institute for Leadership Program and has Bachelors of Arts degrees in Anthropology and Geography from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
